Mahatma Gandhi visited Kausani in 1929 and was so mesmerized by its calm environment and the panoramic view of the Himalayas that he stayed here for 14 days. During his stay, he penned his famous book ‘Anashakti Yog’, which focuses on the path of selfless action. This is why the ashram is also called Anashakti Ashram.
